Q3 Spanish up-date

3rd grade Spanish classes have been learning about hobbies (pasatiempos) like sports (deportes) and instruments (instrumentos), and how there are two different words for the verb "to play"  - jugar and tocar -- see if they can remember which was is used for sports and which one for instruments.  Yo juego el baloncesto.  Es divertido y fácil.  Yo toco la guitarra y el piano.  Es difícil.   We did a review game with Kahoot in class today.   We were unable  to finish the whole thing in class, so if you're able to have them do this at home, they would really enjoy that!

Here's the information you'll need.

Also, I taught them how to access   quizlet.com/ACCSpanish345/classes

  • Choose the 3rd grade
  • sort by (alphabetical NOT latest) so that they can find the vocab to work on the easiest
  • They can do -- flashcards, matching, test  for 3.1   3.2  3.3  or 3.4

We have also started learning about the Central American country of Honduras.

4th grade has been practicing writing and reading in Spanish using vocabulary related to school.  Yo juego el fútbol y yo toco el piano.  Mi mamá no juega el fútbol y mi papá no toca el piano. We've also been reviewing how to write sentences about what sports and instruments they play.  Our next chapter will focus on vocabulary related to hobbies. Me gusta mucho jugar videojuegos y leer libros.  Yo juego los videojuegos el sábado y el domingo.  Yo leo todos los días.  They will also be learning about Mexico this quarter -- where the monarchs migrate to, artist Diego Rivera and what Mexico City was originally built on top of.

5th grade has been learning about El Salvador - how they use US dollars there, drink horchata and eat delicious pupusas and ceviche and saw the beautiful wall murals that El Salvador has in many of their small villages – some featuring lots of gatos!  We just finished a chapter focusing on verb conjugation using school vocabulary.  Mi clase favorita es ciencias.  La maestra es Sra. Shasteen.  Nosotros aprendemos mucho en la clase!   ¡Es muy divertida! The students had a quiz over it recently and did very well!  We're now heading into a chapter reviewing how to tell time in Spanish.  Son las nueve menos veinte de la mañana. o  Son las ocho y cuarenta de la mañana.

Hasta luego,

Sra. Watne
